Thanks, Peggy. The rounded building with the two tall vent pipes is the refuse incinerator. The ash that comes from it provides a return cargo sometimes and is stored, awaiting collection, in the shed to the right. These locomotives were the first diesels to be imported from the US. The similar 66 class now provide a significant proportion of the UK freight locos. The last in that class has only recently been shipped in from Canada, where they have been constructed from kits made by General Motors in the US.
