Class!! Must have been somewhat confusing for intending passengers. There must have been a few who found themselves going in the opposite direction to which they intended!

Not that many people would have looked at the head-boards, but you would think that one should have been the Thames - Clyde Express and the other the Clyde - Thames Express, but expresses just seem to have had 'up' and 'down' versions, always giving precedence to London of course.
Trains that reverse during the journey, as happens locally at Eastbourne, must be awkward for people who prefer or even insist on travelling facing in one direction, usually forwards.
