Its formal status is unclear... I'd hate to see it gone...

Unfortunately not.
People moved out.
All entries are padlocked.
I went there yesterday to check upon its status.
There is a new information about imminent danger: the house is at risk of collapse.
Maybe somebody put it (a warning sign) there to deter looters,
because the villa does not look near collapsing. Not yet!
