A great catch of one of my favourite birds, I love hearing their call though sadly there are none in our area due to habitat loss.

Thanks Gudrun.............they are in decline everywhere I'm afraid. The were added to the World Conservation Red List around 2015. Used to see loads here when I was a kid, but these are the first I've seen for ages.

Thanks Güni...................I'm really pleased you like this one. I'm been trying to improve my in-flight shots for a couple of years now, but you need to practice a lot. I definitely delete more shots than I keep :-)))

Thanks very much Colin...........I rarely see these and I would have like to have got closer but it wasn't possible. There were two on the beach, but they were off as soon as I even moved. I did get one other shot worth posting, which I'll do in due course.

Absolutely amazing Keith. It's a stunning photo of this curlew. I wonder if he was aware of how low he was flying - even dipping his wing in the water.

Thank you my kind friend...............Curlews used to be quite commonplace but over the past ten years or so have declined considerably. They are on the Red List for conservation.

Awe, just love the call and silhouette of the curlew. We were accompanied by its plaintive call the other week at Longendale. There are almost endangered nowadays so its great to see your splendid capture here. ⭐ Very well done Sir!

Yes,. a great capture there Keith,.. the 1/1000 worked well for a motion shot,.. and good focus too,.. in fact a top shot all round,.... I would 'think' that you were sweeping the lens 'Right' to 'Left' along with the bird ?..// ,.. Dj.

I was using Continuous Auto Focus and following the bird through the viewfinder. I still delete more shots than I keep though..!!

Gotcha' thanks Keith,.. yes I too delete most,. unlike the film days,. it's too easy now to just keep snapping .. // Dj.

I remember the dark times.............sending off a roll of film to be developed, waiting a couple of weeks to get it back and then realising all the photos were absolute crap!!
