This week in SSC:

"Trees"

I saw this row of trees the other day while out and about. I thought they looked nice against the apartments. I don't know what kind they are. Maybe you recognize them.

..and for Sight and Sound

Seals and Crofts from their album "Summer Breeze" (1972)

Poiriers Chantecleer ? ou pas ?
Un très joli alignement qui donne une belle coquetterie à cette rue , une vision printanière

I think you might be right. It does look like the blossoms and bark of the ornamental pear tree. Merci, Dan!

They are very pretty. I was going to ask you what kind of trees they are. I suspect they are pear trees, perhaps Bradford pears. So, I agree with neira-Dan. Some cities in Arkansas have put bounties for cutting down Bradford pears, since they are so invasive.

Thanks, Ronald. After looking them up the bark and blossoms do look like some sort of ornamental pear tree. How nice!

What a beautiful row of trees, Karen! I don't know the name, but we have them in our area, too. They seem to be the first trees to bloom, along with the tulip tree.

Oh, that's nice you have them too. They are very pretty planted together like this. Thanks, Val.

Thank you, Jan!

I think Dan, Ronald and Heide have figured it out. The bark and blossoms match the ornamental pear tree. I'm happy to find that out. They look really great planted together like this and caught my eye right away.

We have the same trees in our street, they're just a little smaller. I think they're ornamental pear tree shapes.
A very beautiful tree-decorated street, fabulously staged, Karen

I can't compare them to anything here because nothing here is blooming. Sigh.

They have the shape of ornamental pears. These are wonderful city trees. They have the shape of a typical shade tree, but flower in the spring. Some of the older cultivars have a noticeable odor to them.

Thanks, Esther. That seems to be the consensus. They sound like really nice trees and I'm so happy to know what they are now.

Lovely light and colours here, Karen. Super detail. Great use of the diagonal lines too. A spot-on musical match by Seals and Crofts. Love this track :-) I may have said this before, but I did have at least one of their albums but none have surfaced in recent times :-) But, thinking about it I'm wondering if it was one or more of their albums that I copied to them 'reel to reel' tape recorder thingies :-) I will be checking out what is available on iTunes and/or Amazon :-)
