This container ship was launched late last year at Shanghai for the Dutch shipping firm Royal Wagenborg. The large structures on the deck are cranes. (I mention this because it's the most common question I get from nearby strangers when I'm watching ships. I presume others have the same experience.) Photo shot from Dock 3 in Saint Ignace.

The beach at Horseshoe Bay, north of St. Ignace. This beach was all sand when we first discovered the bay, but the tall grasses are winning....

On Wednesday, we stayed in the park. We walked the park's Yellow Trail to the long (2 miles in the park ) beach, and walked along the Strait (or Lake Huron, if you choose to view things that way). The long beach, and the sky.

The Straits of Mackinac and Bois Blanc Island, from Cheboygan State Park looking toward the Mackinac Straits Bridge. The ship in the distance is the barge Integrity, pushed by the tug G.L. Ostrander. Not sure where the vignetting came from; the photo came out of the camera that way. I rather like the effect, though.
