In Lake Huron, off the end of Bois Blanc Island. This light is distantly visible from Cheboygan State Park (and even more distantly from Cheboygan's waterfront). Poe Reef Light used to be staffed by a four-man crew, three of whom were in residence at any given time....
As you can see, the light's now the home to a cormorant colony. A side effect is that it has a quite foul smell.
The lighthouse lives on a wooden crib, which is normally fully underwater and thus protected from rot. Our guides expressed some concern about the effect of the current low lake levels; at this point, with the water "down 4 feet" (from normal? normal minimum? average? high? not sure), the top of the crib is exposed.
