Grand River
The weather was far better a year ago....
When I photographed this place from a different angle on July 3 I labelled the photo "Sit and Watch the River." It's a pretty spot.
==========
Grand Ledge has comfortably worn a series of identities--frontier city, mining town, tourist resort, furniture manufacturer, brick and pipe manufacturer--and glories in all of them. These days it's pretty much a Lansing suburb. It's also delightfully photogenic.
I parked near the Opera House a year ago and took about 20 photographs of the building and its grounds with the D300. Then I switched to the V1 and wandered around downtown GL mostly capturing pix of the downtown buildings. The shots show I'd pretty much mastered the new camera's exposure and focus issues, but I was still not coping well with the camera's built-in delays. And I was taking far too many multiple exposures--I didn't have the feel, yet, for the shutter release.
All in all, a good outing.
==========
Fitzgerald Field, the miniature ballpark whose photograph I posted to 366 Snaps, is across Bridge Street from the Opera House. You shouldn't be surprised to learn that I got there by walking under the bridge.
I kinda was, actually. Surprised, that is.
==========
This photograph is an outtake from my 2012 photo-a-day project, 366 Snaps.
Number of project photos taken: 23
Title of "roll:" Opera House
Other photos taken on 3/19/2012: As noted above, I wandered around Grand Ledge with my V1--and shot 275 photos. (This was the best.) Then, at home, shot another 44 pix of the emerging flowers, again with the V1 ("New Flowers Every Day"). Several of the flower pix ended up as January flowers.
