Spiranthes ochroleuca (Yellow Ladies'-tresses orchid) growing under a Parkway guard rail

This species of Ladies'-tresses orchid is locally abundant along some sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Some plant associations are Stiff Gentian and Roan Mountain Goldenrod.

These images represent a day trip to a North Carolina section of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Roadside fall wildflowers were abundant and in great shape on this visit.
