Advance warning
The canal was closed for traffic beyond this point (Sturt's Lock) although the tow path was open until Whitmore Road Bridge. At that point there was a diversion that rejoined the canal just after the Kingsland Rd bridge.
The reason for the stoppage (from 18 Feb - 13 Mar 2009) was repairs to bridge abutments and canal walls under and around Whitmore Road Bridge.
