Caretos now

In Podence, a tiny village in the north-east of Portugal, about 40 men dressed in stripes of red, yellow and green wool sporting leather belts with cowbells on, spend the three days before Lent running wild in the streets dancing and playing tricks on the unsuspecting girls.
But now their tiny village of 356 inhabitants is drowned by 60 000 visitors thanks for one UNESCO most recent gift . . . and if you look for tradition please look to the first pictures of this album.
