The snowdrop is a wondrous flower
Giving beauty through every hour,
Unlike chrysanthemums - very bland
And rather creepy in the hand.

Isisbridge club has replied to Studley
Chrysanthemums have nostalgic smells
Of long ago classrooms with old inkwells,
Harvest boxes wrapped in bright paper,
And gym-slipped children dancing a caper.

Snowdrops, though, are downbeat and shyer,
Peeping through leaves while we sit by the fire,
Timidly bringing some winter cheer
And quietly proclaiming that Spring is near.
