I'm trying to work out exactly where this was taken from. Your description says Hinksey Heights (and there's only one golf course anywhere near there) but the relative positions of the distant buildings (compared with my picture here -https://www.flickr.com/photos/14463685@N07/14555126644, which was taken from the golf course) are very different, as if yours was taken from somewhere far North of there. A puzzle.

I think yours was taken from the top of Chilswell Path, whereas mine was taken from above Chilswell Farm. You can find the farm quite easily on the satellite view.

This one is similar to yours, from the top of Chilswell Path.

I took mine from the SE side of the golf course (I was trespassing) and your picture, although from further away, was taken from a similar angle - the same golf course can be seen in the foreground. So it must be that my intuitive expectation that the relative positions of the (very) distant buildings would be almost the same is wrong.

I assume that the second picture (which must, like mine, have been taken from the golf course) is a professional one. It would have needed (as well as exceptional visibility on the day) a tripod and a very long lens. Technically it's better than mine, but the placement of the buildings is less pleasing IMHO.

The second picture was from the top of Chilswell Path. I've never been on the golf course.
It was 7.30 on a July evening and I didn't have a tripod. The photo has been "posterised".

I bought a lens, a telephoto converter and an adapter specially to get this picture, and lugged it all plus a heavy tripod to the top of the hill, trespassing on private property, while you just took yours hand-held with an ordinary bridge camera, from a public path, and got a better result than I. Aw.

I happened to have driven past South Hinksey at least twice this year in June and July at that time in the evening and had thought of having another go, but a) was too tired to park up and climb the hill b) didn't have the necessary equipment with me c) thought that I wouldn't get a significantly better picture than the one I already had. But if I have my life again...
