British Waterways guy
sink that bloomin boom
eyesore boom at Isis Pool
ruining the Isis Pool
British Waterways spoils the view
British Waterways eyesore jetty and river boom
ugly boom and jetty at Isis Lock
British Waterways ugly boom
Blooming British Waterways!
sprouting spring logs
spring evening on the canal path
another spring at Hythe Bridge
British Waterways trash
British Waterways vandalism
British Waterways destruction
at least some trees were spared
at least they got some firewood
canalside gardens turned to waste
trees felled at Hythe Bridge
stark towpath at Hythe Bridge
magic gone from Hythe Bridge
once leafy green footpath
canal path laid bare
Frideswide houseboat
Canal Walk in autumn
Oxford Canal Walk
towpath walk
fallen leaves on the towpath
losing the serendipity
autumn again at Hythe Bridge
British Waterways eyesore boom
hideous act of public vandalism
iris in a towpath garden
garden at Hythe Bridge Moorings
young willow hiding the boom
canal path greening up again
houseboat roses
Hythe Bridge path in June
home fires in June
freaky sign at Isis Bridge
British Waterways eyesore sign
adding insult to injury
British Waterways clutter
montbretia growing back
the green returns to the towpath

For nearly 200 years this treasured part of Oxford’s historic waterways has served well supplying coal to Oxford’s fireplaces. More recently, thanks to previous save the canal campaigns, business with pleasure have proliferated. Now, thanks ironically to a new British Waterways safety policy, the people visiting and nearby are suffering the many hazards and visual blight of a boom, pontoon and unguarded sheer drop onto it. The toll of pain so far is two people overboard, minor ‘bloody’ injury, boat collisions, and narrow escapes to novice from being impaled by nearly snapped boat pole, and this is from two people of the many that have witnessed further problems.
