I call this Amma's creek. It is located on a farm called Hóll in Iceland, where my grandmother (Amma in Icelandic) left in 1884, shortly before her 5th birthday, to immigrate with her parents to an area of Canada, near Winnipeg, sometimes called New Iceland. Specifically, they settled near the Village of Gimli. The reason I call this Amma's Creek is that when I visited this farm in 2006 an old gentleman there told me that when Amma came back to the farm in 1930 she at first said she didn't remember anything about the place, but then when she went down to the creek, she exclaimed, "Oh, I remember playing in this creek."
