This type of ceiling finish is made by "smooshing" the trowel in the wet plaster and pulling it away. It leaves designs like mountain ranges, as seen from the sky. When I was little, I used to pretend it was the surface of some alien planet. Yes, I had a vivid imagination when I was a kid. When my house was built in 1945, I'm pretty sure it didn't have a bathroom. It probably had an outhouse in the backyard. Some previous owner to the people who owned the house before my parents bought it built on this bathroom just off the kitchen. To facilitate a door for it, a barn-type sliding door was added. It is heavy duty and features a display shelf above it. When closed, it resides hidden beside the refrigerator to the left.
