Gyro

Gyro
This is the gyro I had at the Greek restaurant in Evansville, Indiana. It's called the Acropolis. I went to eat there recently and they had relocated across town. Taken on February 27th, 2016, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.

I've eaten in Greek restaurants before now and have to say that I don't recognise any of the food you show here! Am I missing something?

Well, let me say what the ingredients are, maybe that'll ring a bell. Starting at the top, 12 o'clock, that little bowl of white sauce is tzatziki sauce. It's made from cucumbers and traditionally goes on gyros. At 3 o'clock is the lamb meat used on gyros. At 6 o'clock is a cut up pita bread. I prefer them to be whole so I can put all the normal gyro ingredients inside it and roll it up and eat it. At 9 o'clock, looks to be some sort of potato wedges, I think - they have nothing to do with gyros, I just ordered them as a side. And at 11 o'clock is diced up tomatoes. They are also a traditional gyro filling. Here is some pita bread that I made and left whole:

Pita Bread

I hope this helps because I really love gyros. I even make them at home - with my own homemade pita bread, tzatziki sauce and lamb meat.
