Hell's Half Acre

Hell's Half Acre
Hell's Half Acre is a rock formation with deep ravines and caves located about 40 miles west of Casper, Wyoming. Apparently this was some kind of little souvenir stand that was nearby. My late Mother's brother lived in Casper, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was taken by her mom, my Grandmother Lolove Wright, on a trip through there. I know they visited Yellowstone National Park on July 14th 1954, so this could have been taken during that same trip.

Just a snapshot... or so it seems ;)
But aged so nicely :)
I love it!

I did have to do a lot of cleaning up with the original snapshot. It had a lot of lint, scratches and fading in it. Plus, somebody had cut down the original picture and the edges weren't straight. I had to level it and redraw some missing portions.

I like such stuff that is a testament to old times and to how the world has changed since then.

There are some quite interesting vintage related groups on ipernity where you can find tons of old photos, postcards and similar stuff. For example I have recently stumbled upon these groups:

And this is a funny one showing that people often looked quite miserable on old photos:

This pictures have reminded me of this photo of my own family:

Do you think they look grumpy enough to qualify for that group?

I'd say they would qualify as "grumpy." They don't look like they're enjoying getting their picture taken.

Thanks for your feedback. :-) I had already decided some days ago that they look grumpy and had added the photo to the group. :-)
