Künstliche Idylle
HFF!

Guido Werner club has replied to GrahamH clubIf photography is defined as capturing and documenting something seen in reality AI-generated images certainly do not fit this definition. Therefore I understand that some people may have reservations with respect to the presentation of AI-generated images on ipernity.
On the other hand also classic photography is not only used for documentary purposes but also as a general tool or technology for creative image generation. Also classic photos often are created in artificial settings that are not intended to simply capture reality but to create a certain kind of image. In this sense artificial intelligence may simply be seen as a new technology that enriches the toolbox for image creation.
I consider ipernity a diverse community of people with different tastes that use different tools and techniques to create images. In order to foster creativity of its members in my view a certain degree of tolerance with respect to the content of other members is necessary on ipernity. We can't expect other users to post only content we like. As well we have the freedom to post content that other users might not like.
What does this mean for AI-generated content on ipernity? In my view it is perfectly ok if ipernity members explore this new technology, exchange their experiences with it and inspire each other how it can be used. But I agree that it should not dominate ipernity and members should not flood ipernity with huge amounts of AI-generated images.
Artificial intelligence inevitably will affect the work of photographers to an increasing extent in the future. This in my view is another reason why it is legitimate that ipernity members explore this new technology and test the possibilities and limitations of it.
Boarischa Krautmo club has replied to GrahamH clubwhat is a photo? Is a HDR a photo? Is a collage a photo? Is changing colours and contrasts and crispiness in photoshop still a photo? Is interpreting a Bayer-pattern as colour a photo?
so many questions......
Mick Herbert club has replied to GrahamH clubYou're right, these are not photos but unfortunately ipernity lacks the function to label these correctly as 'Illustration Art', so we have to go with what we've got, but I would hope that all who are 'creating' these pictures with AI software would, myself included, make reference to it in the keyword section.
They're never going to replace a 'proper' camera, sure hope not anyway, but they are a bit of light relief and great fun to do !
Cheers
Mick
GrahamH club has replied to Boarischa Krautmo clubA photo requires a light-focusing device, and some light sensitive material or device. Adjustments or modifications of the recorded image are part of photography.
Perhaps the proponents of AI-generated images could form their own club and website. There is plenty of room in cyber space to do this.
Perhaps a second Ipernity using the same software and hosting, especially for AI image makers. Just a suggestion. I am certain that the field will grow and that they can make a site to suit.
Respekt!
HFF and have a good weekend
Wish you a serene Friday and weekend!
I agree there is room for AI creations too on ipernity, BK's ones made me often smile. Just hope there will be a balance here between genuine photography and AI creations.
* ઇઉ * club has replied to Makrofan clubIpernity has always been a platform not only for photographers, but also for artists to creative image editors. This has been an essential characteristic of ipernity's attractiveness and diversity, and it should remain so.
