Dunollie Light,

The white light from this lighthouse has a range of 8 nautical miles while the red and white light on the left is on the end of Kerrera island and if viewed large the Isle of Lismore lighthouse can be seen just in front of the Calmac ferry "Isle of Mull" as it turns to enter Oban Bay. The Island of Mull forms a backdrop on the left with the Isle Lismore on the right and beyond that the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Next stop the Arctic, HFF.

Records show this to be the windiest place in the UK. Look West from here and there's nothing between you and Northern Canada; look north and it's open ocean all the way to the Arctic. The Lighthouse stands 121ft high and was built between 1859 and 1862 by David and Thomas Stevenson, The Butt of Lewis latitude 58°30.940'N and Longitude 006°15.717'W with a flashing white light every 5 seconds and a range of 25 nautical miles.. Pip showing rocks below the lighthouse on a calm day, Large for detail.
