Somerset Coast
Shoreline Tree
This is the edge of Bridgwater Bay with the island of Steep Holm on the left and the tip of Brean Down on the right, This hardy tree does well to withstand the storms and gales that blow in off of the Atlantic and up through the Bristol Channel,
A generally gloomy day with short spells of nice light, it did however stay dry, so we managed a decent walk,
Large for the best view, I think.
Restoration Begins
Birnbeck Island and Pier.Weston Super Mare,
Architects and engineers have now been appointed with work underway to make safe and eventually restore these grade 2 listed structures,
The RNLI will also progress designs for their new lifeboat station on Birnbeck Island which will significantly improve their operational effectiveness along this busy stretch of coast. (the abandoned lifeboat station with the red doors)

Brean Down !
A late afternoon capture with a very low tide in the bay and a view across to Brean Down from Birnbeck, Weston Super Mare,
If you are able to view large note the weathered sandstone on top of the wall!
Brean Down is a promontory off the coast of Somerset, England, standing 318 feet (97 m) high and extending 1+1⁄2 miles (2.5 kilometres) into the Bristol Channel at the eastern end of Bridgwater Bay, (Wikipedia)
HWW to all.
Flying South.
A late afternoon image looking west across the Bristol Channel, Brean Down on the left and the Island of Steep Holm on the right, a distant Exmoor can just be seen rear left,
I prefer the image large!
Lunch at the Bottom Ship (pip)
An image from May 2012, This is the Bottom Ship Inn at Porlock Weir on the Somerset Coast,
(The Top Ship Inn is up the road in Porlock Village)
Benches galore outside this 13th century coaching Inn
The pip gives a flavour of the Weir at low tide
For the musical link a Somerset song from the late great Adge Cutler

*******Best wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year to you all !*******
Muscle Fishing
On a bitterly cold January day, this chap managed to catch a fish while the tide in Minehead Harbour was out ;-)
How his hat stayed on in the wind is also a mystery,
Steven Heard who is a retired carpenter makes these cheeky characters and distributes them around the town just to cheer the place up a little.
HFF and a large view perhaps
The Pub and the Chapel!
The Chapel of St. Peter also called the Fishermens Chapel next door to The Old Ship Aground,
Minehead Quay, Somerset,
The Chapel is now closed and is I believe a holiday let!
HBM and a great week !
The County Flag!
The flag of Somerset fluttering in a strong and cold winter breeze while being flown from the Harbour Wall at Minehead,
Large for detail please, HWW!
