The city was the "Central Station" on the old rail line between Atlanta and Charlotte (NC), 133 miles from both cities (i.e.- the "Central" point between the two); hence, the town's name. (see the links, which have more detailed information) The town owes its existence and survival to the old rail line, and, although rail has been displaced as the primary means of human transportation or for the transporting of goods, the town still pays homage to the rail system each year with a local town festival. (btw, if you're ever in the area, you need to see the Railroad Museum in Central, SC, or the local park containing an old red caboose, located along Main Street.) As Kolton wasn't very happy on this particular day, we cut our trip short. One final note: you'll see pictures of dogs within the set. With only a couple of exceptions, these pets were all rescued, either from abusive homes, or by adoption from the local animal shelter.
