Australian Federal Election 2019 0519 5149
On the 18th of May 2019 Australians are voting in a federal election. In Australia voting is compulsory. This will determine the members of the national parliament, all of the lower house, House of Representatives (Reps), and half the members of the upper house, the Senate. The Reps seat here is Groom where 6 candidates are standing. It would be surprising if the incumbent was not returned. Senators are elected on a per state basis. This time there are 82 candidates for the 6 seats for Queensland.
Here, as in many cases, the polling place is a state school. Supporters of the various parties stand around hoping to hand a 'how to vote' paper to arriving voters.
