Italica amphitheatre

This is a view of the amphitheatre in Italica, a major Roman town near Seville. The Roman emperors Trajan and Hadrian were born there and this amphitheatre was commissioned by Hadrian. It could seat 25,000 spectators, more than double the population of the town.

The Court of the Lions in the Alhambra in Granada was constructed in about 1380 as part of the Nasrid plalace of Muhammad V.
Cordoba -The Great Mosque

|
|
The Great Mosque in Cordoba was constructed in 785 AD by Abd al-Rahman 1, founder of the Islamic emirate of Cordoba. It was concerted into a cathedral in 1236 when Cordoba was captured by the Christian forcess of Castille.
Our morning walk

It may not look much, but it is very special to us. This is the view we get on one of our regular walks. Our small village is hidden in the dip in the distance.
Strange insect

Seen in the cloister garden at Chester Cathedral. I looked it up in my book on insects and could not find it !
Arctic Tern at 120

There are so many Arctic Terns nesting on Inner Farne that they have to number their nests. Luckily the birds are taught to read while they are still chicks !

An Arctic Tern

It is nesting season on Inner Farne and the Arctic Terns are defending their nests by attacking all visitors. Make sure you wear a hat as their beaks are very sharp.
