As Joe says, the sign makes a great focal point. I'm not sure why there is a crash barrier there though......it must be pretty obvious you can't drive past that point.
Another of your photos that I like, but can't really explain why, except that it catches my attention and makes me think! Perhaps that's the point?
The crash barrier is probably to protect the lamp post in winter. Country roads can get slippery then.
