Traffic Jam
Approximately 160,000 people in 60,000 cars drove into the largely rural state of Vermont (population 648,000) to view the total eclipse. This photo of a major highway shows the traffic jam as people attempted to leave the state after the eclipse. The lone vehicle in the left lanes is more typical of the traffic that is usually on the highway that time of day. It took us 6 1/2 hours to get to Vermont and 5 1/2 hours to return on what would normally have been a 3 hour drive. On the return drive, the highway was so crowded that the GPS took us through the woods at night on unlit, backroads. Still, it was worth it to see the eclipse. My camera settings were totally fooled by the lighting during the total eclipse and rather than fiddle with the settings, I put the camera down and enjoyed the eclipse.

I like this picture very much!
It is a very different and exciting composition, a very different way to remember the eclipse.
We had a total eclipse in year 2000, but nowhere near the same traffic problems as this!
Unfortunately I didn't have a digital camera to capture the event..
Best Wishes, Happy Monday,, and stay safe!!
