Although American wigeons are widespread in Canada and the western United States, they rarely visit the northeastern United States and leave before breeding season begins. I will thrilled to see this male in breeding plumage swimming among the mallard ducks. He seemed to have a fondness for one of the female mallards and followed her continuously.
