Back through time
The Hartwell Tavern in Lincoln, Massachusetts was built between 1732 and 1733. It served as a tavern and a home from 1756 until 1780. On the night of April 18, 1775, Paul Revere and William Dawes were captured by the British down the road from the tavern. Dr. Samuel Prescott escaped by jumping his horse over a stone wall and fleeing. He was able to warn the Lincoln Minute Men in time that the British were on their way. The home is now maintained by the U.S. Park Service
