Le joli clocher St Barthélemy, Melun

Le clocher est un peu penché, façon tour de Pise. J'ai dû incliner le cadre ;)

L'église Saint-Barthélemy est mentionnée dès 1080. En 1590, lors des guerres de religion, l'église et le faubourg sont incendiés par ordre du Gouverneur de Melun (77). Le clocher de l'église reconstruite entre-temps sert en 1755 de point géodésique à la triangulation réalisée pour l'établissement de la carte de la France par Cassini, puis pour celle servant à l'établissement du système métrique. En 1793, le culte cesse dans l'église. Le clocher est conservé, acheté par la Ville en 1835, restauré en 1858. Inscrit à l'Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques en 1946. Il est à nouveau restauré en 1999.

The church of Saint-Barthélemy is mentioned since 1080. In 1590, during the religious wars, the church and the suburb were burned by order of the Governor of Melun, in Seine-et-Marne. The bell tower of the church, which had been rebuilt in the meantime, was used in 1755 as a geodesic point for the triangulation carried out for Cassini's map of France, then for the one used to establish the metric system. In 1793, the cult ceased in the church. The bell tower is preserved, purchased by the City in 1835 and restored in 1858. Registered in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments in 1946. It was restored again in 1999.
