West auf Nordwest
Überführung Mühlenpfordtstraße
Das Kunstwerk thematisiert die Veränderung
der Weltmeere als Lebensraum.
Während einige Lebewesen aufgrund des
Klimawandels verdrängt werden,
vermehren sich andere Arten explosionsartig.
Quallen profitieren von der Erwärmung
der Meere, wobei die Überfischung ihre
natürlichen Feinde zusätzlich reduziert.
In der künstlerischen Arbeit West auf Nordwest
wurden die Quallen aus Ausschussware
der Kunststoffindustrie gefertigt.
Sie okkupieren den Raum über der Oker
und beginnen durch den Einsatz von
Schwarzlicht zu leuchten. Alma Barwitzki,
die am Institut für Architekturbezogene
Kunst (IAK) studiert, hat ihren Entwurf
zusammen mit den Künstler:innen Sina
Heffner und Bernd Schulz ausgearbeitet,
beide Lehrende am IAK.
