The Chesterfield Canal runs from Chesterfield, Derbyshire, to West Stockwith in north Nottinghamshire, where it joins the River Trent. Some sections of the canal between Staveley and Kiveton Park, Including the former Norwood Tunnel, have been obilterated, but restoration work is slowly going forward.

This magnificent avenue leads from Wiseton Hall in north Nottinghamshire, up to Lady's Bridge where it crosses the Chesterfield Canal (just behind the camera location). The photo was taken from the the towpath on the south bank of the canal.

It was a beautiful late spring day and the hawthorn bushes were laden with rich, fragrant May blossom along the banks of the Chesterfield Canal near Cuckoo Hill and Lady's Bridge, Wiseton, Nottinghamshire. The blossom blowing into the canal formed extensive white rafts of petals.
The footpath which follows the canal towpath is the 'Cuckoo Way'.
