I'd found the big box of bead display stands several weeks before gem show, and put it somewhere safe (along with some other show display bits). Later, when going through all the boxes looking for glass/tools/beads/etc, I lost track of the box of Display Things Going To Tucson (and probably buried it all under the boxes that *didn't* have the things i was looking for); and so the day I left, while I was scrambling to bake bread (an epic fail - too much multitasking), get Sophie's things ready for her extended sleepover at her friends' house, tetris the car, etc, I frantically searched the house for whatever I could find to improvise some new stands. These bits of 2x4 were off-cuts from when I turned those awkward doors into a wall; I had a can of black wood stain waiting for another project, and my drill-press was already set up on the kitchen counter. I rather like the way they turned out - I was able to set out more beads at once without everything looking too crowded. I'm going to clean these up when I get home - sand everything, re-stain the 2x4s, re-glue the posts - but I think they're keepers... :)
