I found it difficult to find histories of other buildings on the island. Considering the frieze on the building (see adjacent picture), this would seem to date to the 1939 World's Fair.

I believe the statues to be remnants of the 1939 World's Fair, but I couldn't find a reference. Note the concrete blocks around the base of each. (See adjacent Building One pictures)

Building One houses the Treasure Island museum, which is closed on Sunday (the day I was there). Visible inside the doors is a large mural, which may be a Diego Rivera. (See adjacent Building One pictures)

Picture was taken in 2003, when construction of the new section of the Bay Bridge (to the left of the existing bridge) between Treasure Island and Oakland had just begun.

When this was taken was right at the time that the buildup for the Iraqi war was beginning, thus it seemed appropriate to focus on the former history of SF in US military action (Treasure Island is a decommissioned Navy Base).
