Yuma Hotel Del Sol (#0887)
More interesting architecture, this time not preserved. The hotel opened as the Del Ming in 1926 and changed its name to Del Sol in 1936. In its early years it was quite popular due to being just across the street from the train station (behind me). The decline in train travel and increase in auto travel after the war (WWII) resulted in its decline, though it stayed open until 1981. There have been efforts to find a use for the structure, but they have been unsuccessful. See: www.yumasun.com/barren-hotel-has-storied-history/article_8c79b1c2-ee6d-57e0-8175-35f4de66b39e.html
