SF Tenderloin Moorish architecture (1359)
It's amazing to me that I now see things in SF that I never noticed when living there. Though I've been in this neighborhood and on this stretch of Geary many times, I never noticed the Alhambra till walking through the area on this trip. The Moorish style of architecture is distinct, but what drew my attention to it was the dome at the top and the columns on upper floors (see adjacent picture).
Designed in 1913 by James Francis Dunn, it is rumored that Rudolph Valentino lived in the penthouse. (see: www.sfgate.com/homeandgarden/article/French-Connection-S-F-architect-s-designs-2671025.php )
