Tonopah Airfield (0652)
I always find the base at Tonopah to be interesting and thus visit it whenever there. I think one of the reasons its interesting is that it seems to be one of the least disturbed of former military bases, it feels like an area simply forgotten. The area around the base is also surprisingly flat and level, thus providing interesting vistas.

The US and Australia seem to be the place for lone chimneys. Very atmospheric view.

I always find the lone chimneys to be quite striking as strong reminders of a time when there were lots of people scurrying around. I think one of the reasons they happen often on older military bases is that the buildings were built of wood and the chimney is all that's left.
