The Westside oil fields were booming. If you look closely in the big version of the picture you can see 24 active well heads but also 12 trucks (and 2 port-a-potties), suggesting quite a bit of exploration going on in the field. And this is only a very small segment of the exploration occurring in the area (see the satellite photo).

This is worse than what I saw outside Midland and Odessa a few years back.

More people need to experience it. Multiple of the major oil fields in California have rigs quite close together. On the Kern westside (where this is), there are three fields, each with miles that look just like this -- the eastside of Kern also has similar.
