Arco, Idaho

Arco, Idaho
Further west in Idaho is Arco, Idaho. Arco's claim to fame is that the first tests of using nuclear energy to generate electricity were conducted at a lab south of it, and it was the first town to have electricity from nuclear energy. Per a park ranger, this 'claim to fame' should be treated with caution, since Arco's total period of being on electricity from nuclear energy was only 5 minutes. The building show here was built by the WPA as a recreation hall.
