Railroad Valley, NV oil (3927)

An interesting drive, just for its sheer remoteness, is US 6 between Ely and Tonopah. The route is 168 miles with no traffic lights, no towns, very large ranches and various odd artifacts of remote Nevada life. It's actually a quite pretty drive, though apparently it isn't much of a tourist route since it is usually empty.

Much of the route between Ely and Tonopah is going through Railroad Valley (which apparently never had a railroad). The largest oil well area in Nevada is in that valley, though the area is small compared to oil well areas in California.
