Severndroog Castle, south-east face
Three-storey gothic tower built in memory of Sir William James (1722-1783) by his widow Lady Anne James, in 1784.
It is named after his 'great victory' as Commodore in the East India Company when his small fleet captured four forts at Suvarnadurg, an island off the Maharashtra coast, India in 1755.
