Maundy Thursday homily
The Holy Eucharist, in the Ciborium, is venerated
Maundy Thursday: Darkness falls
Good Friday
Before the Stations of the Cross begin
Praying the Stations of the Cross
Good Friday: Prostrate before the stripped altar
Psalms are sung
Slowly, and with prayer, the Cross is revealed
Behold, behold the wood of the Cross . . .
Communion, but not Mass
Behold the Lamb of God
And again, somber darkness
Easter Vigil: The light spreads
From the fire, the Pascal candle will be lit
Whence the light is spread
Until it has filled the Church
There is purification by incense
All the lights come up: He is risen!
Though the service is long and late, the congregat…
One catechumen is to be baptized
Welcoming new Catholics is joyous
As with the light earlier, the joy spreads
Maundy Thursday: It begins
Palm Sunday 2013: Holy Week begins

Not physically possible
Yes, that black thing on his arm . . .
He did come down alive

Mandatum: Washing of the feet
Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. Here, people who will be welcomed into the Church at the Easter Vigil have their feet washed. Church law and tradition have limited the recipients of this treatment to men, because the disciples were men. This year, however, Pope Francis changed that in the newly discovered Rite of Flinging Down and Dancing Upon. To be fair, the law had been flagrantly disregarded in parishes for years.
