When Jimmy Carter was president
Oilspill cleanup
Sewer Eruption
A parents' fear
Injury on the road at night
Oops!
Reducing the fire risk
Building supplies went everywhere
It truly was a miracle
Trees are sometimes stronger than trucks
The driver escaped, somehow
The horror grows worse
Horror on a sunny morning
When in doubt . . .
Comforting the injured
Soon thereafter . . .
But then . . .
Bleacher Collapse, Greenburgh, New York
The Sierra Maestra
Opposite the North East Gate
Those big binoculars show this
Also at the North East Gate . . .
The North East Gate
Linus the Lionhearted
Neither rain, nor flood . . .
Where the journey started
Looking for a home
The World Trade Center hadn't even stopped burning…
Looking for the plane crash
Soon we found it
It had come nearly straight down
There were four aboard, all teenagers
To get a good fire picture . . .
It makes more sense than you'd think
A photogenic fire
Firefighting in the dark
Soon, that was gone, too
If only there were water
An outhouse fire
Forget something?
Fire knocked down, building, too
It's hard, exhausting work
A rescue
Last day of freedom
An accomplice

Junius, are you in there?
There had been two double-murders in Bedford Hills, a well-to-do Westchester County, New York, suburb. We had gotten a tip that a fellow named Junius Gray was suspected of having done the killings. Adam Nagourney (pictured) and I went to his East New York, Brooklyn house to ask him if he'd killed those people. But he was already in custody for a different crime. His family said he hadn't done it, but the grand jury disagreed. Junius died in prison.
