Burnley & Pendle 949 (L949 MBH) in Burnley bus station – 29 May 2001 (466-26A)

Tuesday 29 May 2001 (approx. 1630) – Burnley & Pendle Travel Limited (L949 MBH), a Plaxton bodied Mercedes-Benz 811D new to Sovereign Bus & Coach in July 1994, seen in Burnley bus station.

In April 2001, just a few weeks before I visited the Ribble Valley area, the Blazefield Group had acquired the former Ribble garages at Clitheroe, Blackburn and Bolton from Stagecoach naming the new operation Lancashire United (this had no connection with the large bus company that had once served South Lancashire).

At the same time the Ribble garage at Burnley was acquired by Blazefield becoming part of Burnley & Pendle. Stagecoach had owned Burnley & Pendle since 1996.
