Yelloway (ATL) SPY 372X in Cambridge - 7 Nov 1987 (58-19)

Yelloway (ATL) SPY 372X in Cambridge - 7 Nov 1987 (58-19)
Saturday 7 November 1987 (1410) – In July 1985 the Yelloway business which had been managed by the Allen family for more than 50 years was sold to a new owner. Changes ensued which might have portrayed an air of an optimistic future that sadly was not going to be.

The new owners chose to hand over the Yelloway long distance coach services to National Express for which Yelloway became a contracted operator.

SPY 372X was a Plaxton Supreme bodied Leyland Leopard Tiger that was new to Martindale Coaches of Ferryhill, County Durham in March 1982 and was one of many secondhand vehicles that came to replace the newer higher value Leyland Tigers bought before the company changed ownership.

It had just arrived at Drummer Street bus station, Cambridge when working the 0700 National Express service 351 from Burnley to Harwich where it was due at 1725.
