Central Coachways (West Midlands Travel) C102 DYE on the M1 Motorway near Watford Gap – 19 May 1989 (86-6)
Friday 19 May 1989 – Central Coachways (West Midlands Travel) MCW Metroliner C102 DYE seen on the M1 Motorway near Watford Gap Service Area bound for Birmingham on the ‘London Liner’ service.
The Birmingham-London ‘London Liner’ coach service was originally operated jointly by Central Coachways (the coaching division of West Midlands Travel which was the successor to the West Midlands PTE) and London Coaches (the coaching subsidiary of London Buses).

The chosen vehicles for the service were MCW Metroliner DR130 double deckers which were painted either blue (Central Coachways) or red (London Coaches) with similar style gold lettering and lining out.

In due course London Coaches withdrew from the partnership and Central Coachways took over their commitments along with three of their four Metroliner DR130s. (ML1/2/4 registered C101/2/4 DYE).
C102 DYE, new in May 1986, is one of the former London Coaches vehicles (ML2).
