Haywards Coaches YX65 ZJN at Barton Mills - 24 Aug 2019 (P1040141)
Saturday 24 August 2019 (1128) – Haywards Coaches of Reading YX65 ZJN, a Plaxton Leopard bodied Volvo B8R new in January 2016 to Weavaway of Newbury seen in queuing traffic at Barton Mills. Haywards and Weavaway are members of the same owning group.
The site of the former Sandfords Garden Centre is visible beyond the cars, the former Dog and Partridge Inn is off camera to the right. The old A11 road linking Newmarket and Fiveways, Barton Mills passed along the front of both.
When the dual carriageway was opened (alongside out of shot left) the old road continued to serve as a local relatively quiet road until traffic queues form on the dual carriageway and then it becomes a rat run for traffic to beat those queues (and sometimes the traffic also has to queue as here!).
The stealthy looking shiny black Leopard (or in the cat world does that make it a jaguar or panther??) seen in the queuing traffic waiting to re-join the dual carriageway.
Over the years I have taken a number of photographs around this spot but in more recent years the opportunities have been less. This is one from 1985 before the dual carriageway was opened:
