Storey's Coaches A29 BHL (A72 YDT, 6341 HE) in Barton Mills - 23 Feb 1994

Storey's Coaches A29 BHL (A72 YDT, 6341 HE) in Barton Mills - 23 Feb 1994
Wednesday 23 February 1994 - Storey’s Coaches was based in Littleport, Cambridgeshire and the business was acquired by Mil-Ken Travel in late 1995. A29 BHL was seen in The Street, Barton Mills having called to pick up children for the schools located on the nearby United States Air Force bases. It is a Plaxton Paramount 3500 bodied Leyland Royal Tiger that had been new to Yorkshire Traction as their number 72 in May 1984 registered A72 YDT. It was later re-registered 6341 HE before becoming A29 BHL.

Leyland had used the ‘Royal Tiger’ marque from the early 1950s for its mid-engined underfloor models. The name was re-introduced some thirty or so years later for the rear engined integral ‘Royal Tiger Doyen’ as well as, like this coach, an underframed variant suitable for carrying traditional style third party bodywork.
