De Lijn 5541 (OOO P4) leaving Oudekapelle - 5 Feb 1996

Monday 5 February 1996 (approx. 0905) - De Lijn 5541 (OOO P4) heads away from the village of Oudekapelle when working the 0900 Mondays only market day service from Nieuwkapelle to Diksmuide, a journey of 15 minutes. (The return journey departed Diksmuide at 1130). The fading sound of the DAF engine returning peace to the flat Flanders countryside on this chilly and frosty morning.

It is a DAF powered Van Hool A120/11 integral new to NMVB (Nationale Maatschappij van Buurtspoorwegen) in October 1979, one of the last of 190 buses delivered in the batch numbered 5356-5545 which began in November 1978. It still carried an old NMVB livery.

De Lijn (Vlaamse Vervoersmaatschappij De Lijn) was created in 1991 from the northern part of NMVB (Nationale Maatschappij van Buurtspoorwegen).
