RATP (Paris) 8580 - 29 Apr 1992

Wednesday 29 April 1992 – Many of the services of RATP (Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens) traverse some narrow streets and in many cases because these are one-way the inward and outward routes can be quite different! Saviem SC10 8580, new in 1978/978, was well and truly stuck here in Rue de Grenelle at the junction with Rue de Bellechasse due to a lorry having difficulty in reversing into a narrow gateway of a Government building. It did at least give me the opportunity to jump of the bus to get a photograph as we headed for the Eiffel Tower. The driver had already notified control of the problem on his telephone which can just be seen between his head on the wing mirror.

RATP buses did not carry registration numbers in the normal way, the fleet number was carried as a registration number.
