Chenery R304 EEX (National Express livery) June 1998
A Tuesday in June 1998 (approx. 0845) – Each Tuesday myself and a work colleague would travel from the Mildenhall factory to the Welwyn Garden City head office for a weekly meeting. On this occasion one of us was able to take some photos of Chenery’s R304 EEX on the A11 near Fourwentways in Cambridgeshire as it headed for London when working the 0645 National Express ‘Rapide’ service 599 from Norwich. Chenery, based in Dickleburgh, Norfolk, became a contractor to National Express on 23 May 1993 operating on the Norwich to London service. The company favoured Kässbohrer-Setra coaches in its own fleet and for the next 11-12 years employed this brand of vehicle on its National Express contract.
